Description
The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) is a not-for-profit organisation that publishes best practice guidance in the design, installation and maintenance of building services.
We currently have an opportunity for someone with a keen interest in the print industry who wishes to gain first-hand experience in a busy publications department over the summer period.
The position is ideal for a graduate or undergraduate to gain work experience and valuable insight into the development and production of industry-led publications.
The role will involve picture research, copy editing, proofing and administrative support to the publications department. You will help co-ordinate an international project, which is a timely forthcoming title, and be involved in liaising with industry experts worldwide. You will also be given the opportunity to sit-in on development meetings.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong research skills • Good organisation skills • Eager to learn • Working knowledge of Word and Excel to a standard level.
Some experience of computer typesetting (Quark or InDesign) would be a distinct advantage.
This is a part time opportunity, for 2 days a week, based in our offices in Balham, London SW12, for 6-8 weeks and starting in July.
The internship is unpaid but we will cover your travel expenses within the London area; and provide real project experience. This is a great opportunity to experience the workplace and contribute to the work of a technical publications department.
To apply please send a copy of your CV and cover letter highlighting your suitability for the role.
Closing date: 1st June 2012
CIBSE is committed to equality and diversity.
