Editorial and Office Intern

Pet Subjects - the publishers of Dogs Today Magazine and Dogs Monthly Magazine, are looking for graduates or undergraduates on their placement year to join our paid internship programme. Our paid internships last between 6 to 12 months, leading to a permanent position with a competitive salary if the fit is right.

This is an entry level role for someone looking to get a step up into journalism and content creation – and an ideal one for someone who loves dogs.

The role is in two parts. In the first instance, you’ll become a member of our editorial team, with the main responsibility of producing two monthly magazines: Dogs Today and Dogs Monthly. An interest in dogs is essential, as you’ll need to have a good basic understanding of breeds, aspects of care and training, and what dog owners are interested in. You’ll be expected to begin contributing ideas, and produce news items and features as needed, and have an excellent eye for mistakes as a part of the proofreading process. There’s also ample opportunity to write for our growing websites and contribute to our huge social media presence.

You’ll also provide support around the office, and be expected to fill in wherever is needed. This will involve in managing our subscription databases, answering the telephone, managing office supplies, opening and directing correspondence and sorting out the post.

Content creation – opportunity to write certain sections of the magazine, features, and post online

Subscriptions – updating database, filing, taking phone/PayPal payments, sorting renewal letters

Phone – answer and direct

Post – open, distribute, and organise outgoing mail

Ordering and managing office supplies

Proofreading and typing up corrections

PLEASE NOTE: Our office is based in Chobham, Surrey and is not in central London. Please ensure you can commute to Chobham before applying.
