Here's your unique chance to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and quality led environment for an online magazine.

This internship comes with full training and support to help you develop into a versatile entertainment and news writer for our multi-award-winning online publication.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who will write and contribute entertainment and news articles on a daily basis to develop their online writing experience.

In this role, you will be fully encouraged to quickly develop very valuable skills in an online environment, supported by the senior editorial team.

You will need proven skills in written/spoken English, good proof-reading skills and the ability to work to tight timescales.

Awareness of British Asian culture (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan etc.), and lifestyle will be very advantageous.

KEY SKILLS

As part of this role you shall gain experience in the following:

* Writing news stories in good online format
* Researching apt British Asian and South Asian orientated stories for the publication
* Brainstorming ideas for new content
* Working with the senior editorial team to produce timely articles
* Writing, editing and proof-reading articles
* Learning to select images for stories
* Development online writing skills to produce stories fully credited to you
* Participating in editorial meetings and reviews
* Learning about how an online publication works

Any experience of using blogging tools such Wordpress, Blogger, Drupal etc. for this role will be useful but not essential as training will be provided.

The role will be based at our Birmingham office in order for you to get full work experience in an editorial environment.

Qualifications

- Good computer experience e.g. Word and Internet use
- Knowledge of British Asian and South Asian cultures - especially news and entertainment highly desirable
- Any experience of working in media e.g. radio, newspaper, online desirable but not essential
- Educated to degree or diploma level standard ideally in a Media or English related discipline.
- Good communication and organisation skills
- Excellent command of English - both written and spoken.
- Be enthusiastic about news editorial and publishing high-quality content.
- Have experience of using any basic photo-editing tools will be useful (but you will be trained).
