Do you have a degree in an English or Media discipline? Or are you graduating in English or a similar qualification?

If you possess a strong command of UK English and are not phased by any subject matter - this role is ideal for your journey into a career in Online Editorial work.

We are offering an exciting internship placement for you to join our editorial team to develop as an Assistant Editor and Writer of News, Entertainment and Lifestyle articles.


As part of this role you shall gain experience in the following:

* Writing feature/news articles
* Editing feature articles written by other writers to meet our standards.
* Working with the senior editorial team to manage the output schedule.
* Ability to work quickly and under pressure to meet our schedule timescales
* Learning to select images/videos for stories
* Development of online writing skills to produce stories fully credited to you
* Participating in editorial meetings and reviews
* Learning about how an online publication works

Any experience of using blogging tools such Wordpress, Blogger etc. for this role will be useful but not essential as training will be provided.

Awareness of British Asian culture (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi etc.), and lifestyle will be very advantageous but not essential.

You shall be put onto our Online Development Programme where mentoring and support from the Senior Editorial Team shall be provided to develop you as an Assistant Editor and writer for our web publication.

Commitment is the key requirement for you to gain from this role and the desire to learn and apply quickly.

This internship provides you with excellent hands-on experience on the demands of a very active 24/7 media publication.

You shall have regular reviews to help your performance and development.

The role requires you to be based in our Birmingham office.

After a probationary period of 3 months, if your skills and performance meet the needs of the role, this opportunity can turn into a paid position.


- A degree in English, Journalism, Media or any similar English discipline.
- A solid command of UK English
- A good eye for detail and observation skills for editing
- Ability to work under pressure and edit articles quickly to meet timescales
- A person with initiative, dynamism and 'go-get' attitude
- An enthusiastic and bright personality with excellent communication skills
- Ability to provide feedback and constructive criticism
- Experience of any online or media work in the past will be very useful
- Ability to use tools like Wordpress
- Skills to work efficiently alone and as part of a team
