REQUIREMENT

Do you want to gain very valuable experience in a dynamic and quality led environment for an online magazine?

If yes, we have an internship with full training and support to help you develop into a versatile features writer for our award-winning online publication.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who will write and contribute lifestyle feature articles on a weekly basis to develop their online writing experience.

In this role, you will be fully encouraged and trained to develop very valuable skills in an online environment, supported by the senior editorial team.

You will need excellent skills in written/spoken UK English, good proof-reading skills and the ability to work to tight timescales.

Areas of lifestyle writing can include Arts & Culture, Fashion, Gaming, Technology, Health, Fitness, Beauty, Food, Film, TV, Bollywood, Sport and Trends.

Awareness of British and South Asian culture (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi etc.), and lifestyle will be very advantageous but not essential.

KEY SKILLS
As part of this role you shall gain experience in the following:

* Writing lifestyle features and entertainment articles in a good online format
* Researching apt orientated features for the publication
* Brainstorming ideas for new content
* Working with the senior editorial team to produce timely articles
* Writing, editing and proof-reading articles
* Learning to select and edit images for stories
* Development online writing skills to produce stories fully credited to you
* Participating in editorial meetings and reviews
* Learning to use online scheduling tools
* Learning about how an online publication works

Any experience of using blogging tools such as Wordpress, Blogger, Drupal etc. for this role will be useful but not essential as training will be provided.

The role will require you to attend our Birmingham office at least 2 days per week in order for you to get full work experience of an editorial environment.

Qualifications

- Excellent command of UK English - both written and spoken.
- Educated to degree or diploma level standard ideally in a good English discipline or Media related.
- Good computer experience e.g. Word and Internet use
- Any experience of working in media e.g. radio, newspaper, online desirable but not essential
- Good communication and organisation skills
- Be enthusiastic about editorial and publishing high-quality content.
- Have experience of using any basic photo-editing tools will be very useful (but you will be trained).
- Knowledge of British Asian and South Asian cultures - desirable but not essential
