Description: Are you a UK student in the environmental sector wanting to boost your CV? Do you want to be part of an ambitious international team in a pioneering sector? Do you have a passion for renewable energy, circular economy and reducing fuel poverty? Re-Solar Ltd is the UK’s leading organisation in dealing with the growing issue of solar PV waste by applying the waste hierarchy to damaged and faulty solar panels. This means prioritising reuse over recycling, by screening damaged solar panels that would otherwise enter the waste stream, so they can be donated to community and environmental projects, reducing their energy bills and carbon footprint. Working with international partners, Re-Solar is now entering an exciting phase of development, building on the success of an initial pilot project. With 52 million solar panels in operation in the UK, the issue of solar waste is set to boom in the coming years, and Re-Solar plans to lead the way in this sector. Re-Solar is now in need of an ambitious and competent student intern, for an initial period of 3 months to assist in specific operational areas. Required: • Passion for reducing fuel poverty, waste to landfill and carbon emissions • Ability to speak clearly and confidently on the phone • Ability to write follow-up emails promptly and succinctly • Excellent grasp of written English and attention to detail with spelling, grammar, etc. • Organising work flows and time management • Competency of Excel • Ability to manage logistics as and when necessary • Able to regularly commit at least 8 hours per week, on a flexible basis for 3 months • Currently studying / recently graduated with relevant degree in geography, environmental science, engineering, business or marketing, etc. Desirable: • Driving licence • Working knowledge of the solar and/or waste sector (or desire to gain knowledge in these areas) • IT skills in either WordPress, social media, Mailchimp, icongraphics (or desire to learn) • Second European language would be of benefit In return, the successful candidate will receive an excellent introduction to both the solar and waste industry from leading experts in this field, providing jet-boosters for their career in a competitive market. Expenses such as phone contract or IT purchases for the duration of their placement will be covered, along with any travel expenses or attendance to trade events etc. If the successful candidate has ambitions to continue in academia or considering dissertation topics, this internship would provide access to exciting research opportunities in this field. The project is being advertised as a (remote) voluntary student internship. If certain project milestones are reached, a paid position may become available in the near future. Please send a CV and 1 page cover letter by 3rd of October. If a suitable candidate is found prior to this deadline, this position may become filled before this date.
