Please visit our website to learn more about our work: www.claremont-project.org Role description: This internship offers people interested in working in community arts or related fields (performing arts, events management, health and wellbeing etc) valuable experience and insight into the running of a dynamic community arts centre. In your role you will be asked to: • Engage with members about the centre, making them feel welcome and listened to (with a focus on particularly isolated older people). • Manage the reception desk (be the face of the centre, taking class payments, being a point of contact for face to face, telephone and email enquiries). • Assist the Centre Manager with operational tasks (i.e., setting up regular classes, art exhibition openings, collecting data etc). • Support with the organisation of special events and trips (Christmas and Easter parties, variety shows, cultural events, excursions etc.) through research, planning and implementation. • Assist with general office tasks (administration, database management, telephone calls, filing, sorting post etc). • Collaborate with the Centre Manager to ensure the high quality of Claremont services. • Work as a team to promote the health and wellbeing of all our members. • Research, design and teach/facilitate at least one workshop or group (optional). • Help keep the centre and our members safe by enforcing Claremont’s COVID safety measures. Training & support • Full induction training on the systems, operations, and organisational ethos of Claremont. • Periodic meetings to ensure you are being well supported and the role is meeting your needs wherever possible. • At least one training course/workshop (more depending on availability). Courses on offer include Relational Practice, Health and Safety, Safeguarding for Vulnerable adults, and Mental Health First Aid. • We are a small team who genuinely care about staff/intern development so do let us know if you are looking for something not yet mentioned here, and we endeavour to accommodate where possible. What are we looking for? • A self-motivated individual with a creative flair. • A strong team player with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. • Someone with an attentive and resourceful approach. • Confidence in basic administration skills (i.e., MS Word/Office/PowerPoint, database entry etc.). • A positive, friendly, and hardworking individual who is keen to “get stuck in” and make the most of their internship. How to apply Please send in your current CV with a supporting letter**. It is really useful to include why you would like to intern with us and some of your ambitions, so we can see who you are and what you are interested in. We suggest your letter is no more than 1.5 pages. **For those who prefer to express themselves in a different format, we also accept video applications as an alternative to a supporting statement. This does not have to be high resolution, a “self-tape” via telephone is adequate as long as we can clearly see and hear your application. We do request that these are still accompanied by your current CV. KEY DATES Friday 26th January, 5pm: Deadline for applications Wednesday 9th February (Afternoon): Face to face interview for successful applicants Monday 21st February: Training Day (10.30am - 4.30pm) Internships commence W/C: 21st February COVID-19 vaccines Please note: It is a requirement of the centre that all member facing staff are fully vaccinated (unless medically exempt). We are happy to offer some flexibility on start date to accommodate this. Claremont statement – January 2022 We welcome applications from people at any stage in their life, whether you want to gain further experience or you are considering a career change. This role can be incredibly rewarding for the right kind of person. Like many places, our services were heavily disrupted during the pandemic and so this is a special time to join the Claremont team as we welcome members back to the centre. We are keen to listen any needs you may have to make this internship as enjoyable and fruitful as possible. We look carefully at every submission and will endeavour to respond to each one. Due to the high volume of submissions please allow a little time for us to respond. Thank you!
