6 Reasons You should Intern
The employment market is evolving globally, which calls for a continuous upskilling of candidates, especially fresh graduates, to increase their chances of getting the desired jobs. One way to upskill yourself and gain relevant experience is going for internships.

As Wikipedia quotes ‘An internship is a period of work experience offered by an organisation for a limited period of time.’ It is essentially taken up by university students, or graduates and can be full time or part-time, depending upon the requirement or the Internship Program of the company.

Let’s have a look below at all the reasons supporting the idea of graduates opting for internships.

1.    Real World Work Experience:
Internship lets you experience the actual work flow, team structure, work culture, team working and much more while at an organisation. It also lets you practically utilise your academic knowledge in a lot of areas, which will make you feel proud of having the required skills.

2.    Explore Career Path:
It’s not necessary that you would create your career in the field you studied for. While interning and learning new things, you might find your passion in some other discipline which would lead you to take your next career steps accordingly. So it lets you explore your interests by exposing you to different work situations.

3.    Your CV Strengthens:
With a successful internship, and a lot of new skills discovered, you can mention all of it on your CV which makes it strong. Your profile becomes eligible for good job roles and your skill sets attract calls from various recruiters.

4.    Building Connections:
Internships help candidates connect to several people working in the company that could be working at different levels. They also get to meet the fellow interns and all this networking helps in creating a strong circle of important, talented and skilful people. Connecting with them will help you succeed your internships as well as getting a permanent employee status too.

5.    Opportunity to Earn:
Most internships today are paid ones. Companies keep interns, train them, and make them ready for projects, all the while paying them a stipend. So while you learn new skills, build your contacts, work in a real corporate atmosphere, you get paid too, isn’t that a huge benefit?

6.    Become a Permanent Employee:
A lot of interns turn into permanent employees by the end of their internship owing to their good performance. A series of tests take place which determine their fate in the company. If you train and work well, you might get absorbed in the company itself, thereby securing yourself a permanent job.

If you want to kick-start your career in a streamlined manner, internships are the way to go. The above reasons should help you take the right decision about your career move after completing your studies.
