When you are a new intern, hesitation is evident. With time, you’ll meet new people, but that’s possible when you open up a little with them, and hold a malleable attitude towards your co-workers, trainers and managers. Change is the only constant. This fact leads us to another fact that regardless of your job, changes are sure to happen at your place of work. The change may be anything like a change in the dynamics of the team, a different reporting authority, a change in the structure of organisation or technological advances.

The changes can only be handled easily by a really adaptive and flexible individual. As a professional about to embark on their career, one’s got to be really adaptive. Hence, this article. How can you be more flexible while interning? Let's see.

1. Change occurs, accept: Be clear and understand that no matter what changes, change helps you learn and progress. Therefore, change with open arms must be embraced.

2. Confront your concerns: Panic is caused by insecurity. It is therefore essential to discern your concerns and reflect on your action plan if this becomes a reality. You therefore have to think more deeply about your own talents. You will be open and adaptable if you are clear about yourself and your future.

3. Knowing the environment: Suddenly, no change. You may receive a clue to the changes you may encounter, if you are vigilant and excellent observer, few instances may be - all managers' meetings, bosses act remote, not involving you in meetings. You can delve into the problem deeply if you obtain a few of tips, so it won't surprise you if change is implemented.

4. Recognise the acceptable change: People behave in the following ways when faced with changes:
  • Stage 1- Denial: At this moment, without even thinking about the change, you will all oppose. This is the first phase after the modification has been announced.
  • Stage 2 – Fury: You know at this point that you can do nothing to stop the transformation, thus a sense of resentment arises. The whole scenario becomes uncertain and disorderly.
  • Stage 3 – Dismissal: Anger becomes despair at this moment. People know they have to let things go. Since they realise that change cannot be prevented, the sense of fury becomes regret and deception.
  • Stage 4 – Admission: This is the phase in which individuals start accepting the change and developing a positive viewpoint, gaining perspective and begin to reflect on their behaviour. People at this level are no longer pessimistic and want to contribute to the organisation.
5. Communicate as much as you can: Sitting and sulking in dread is futile. Rather, you should talk to management and seek methods to sort out matters. Be honest and demand solutions to your issues. Regardless of the employee's anxiety and fear of change, management also has a struggle to solve problems. Get the problem accurately understood.

6. Be in the right person's company: The pioneers of the firm are the powerful group of people who are eager with open arms to accept change and are motivated to bring about change. These are very frequently persons that have a good performance, confidence in themselves and faced change in the past. They are positive about the changes and circumstances, always looking forward to mentoring and guide others grow. These are folks you ought to interact with more.

7. Be participative of the transition: Organisations going through transition require their team members to fill the gaps created during all the chaos. By participating in such events, you may be part of the change.
