Handshake Primers
Many of us shake hands automatically and unconsciously. Yet, if you have poor handshake habits, it may be helpful to break down the fundamentals of a handshake in order to improve. It's best to avoid the bone crusher and go for a solid, palm-to-palm handshake with the interviewer instead. The optimal number of pumps is one to two, and each should last for only three seconds.
Shake hands with your interviewer and provide a warm greeting like, "It's a pleasure to meet you." According to some renowned business gurus, taking the initiative is a sign of confidence. Maintaining eye contact is also crucial. Your smile and greeting words are complemented by a firm handshake in the business world.
Indifferent to Gender
Shaking hands with a woman is not different from shaking hands with a guy, although this misconception persists. The commercial world of today, with its greater emphasis on equality between the sexes, has changed this. No of the interviewer's gender, you should use the appropriate handshake. When men shake women's hands differently, it can be taken as a sign of disrespect.
A lack of confidence or assertiveness could be communicated when a woman shakes a male recruiting manager's hand weakly.
Pre-Shake
You should practise your handshake, but not spend too much time worrying about it just before your interview. Before you go in for the interview, wash your hands thoroughly and dry them thoroughly. Those who are anxious often experience sweaty hands. Please wash your hands and dry them before entering. Sweaty hands before an interview? Wipe them on your trousers legs.
Inappropriation
An unimpressive handshake does the same. LinkedIn claims that a limp hand is a sign of shyness. Instead, avoid the temptation to use a crushing handshake to establish your superiority. Instead of showing that you have a strong character, you come across as arrogant and domineering.
Avoid placing your other hand on the recruiting manager's arm or shoulder or pumping their hand hard. Avoid prolonged shaking; it always ends badly. A professional handshake is always neat, crisp, and solid.
Handshakes After COVID-19?
During the worldwide coronavirus epidemic, people stopped shaking hands and other forms of physical contact. All the tiny touches we exchange when we're standing less than six feet away have become increasingly common as well, from hugs and backslaps and much more.
