Tips to Develop Interns as per their Chosen Careers
One major aspect of internships is to provide fruitful training, education and learning to the interns while they are with the company. Their professional development is of much importance as it would help them turn in to full time employees if all goes well.
Interns must know what is expected of them to achieve during the internship. When you do that, it becomes easier for the young students to make efforts as required. And of course, they would always try to do more than what’s expected because they want to prove themselves worthy. Here we offer tips on how to pay attention to their professional development while they intern at your company:

1.    Create Training Module:
A training module as per the skill sets will be helpful for the trainers and the interns as they will get to focus on their chosen fields instead of going through everything but learning nothing.

2.    Stay aware of the trends:
The world is changing rapidly and so are the demands of a workplace. Create modules and course as per what is trending regarding the respective domain. This will keep not just the trainers up to date, but will also keep your interns abreast with the latest ongoing.

3.    Pay attention to soft skills:
Along with the job-related skills, the employer needs to hone the soft skills of their interns too. Your future employees should be ready in all the ways when they complete their training and are ready to join the actual team. This will boost their confidence, and they won’t make as many mistakes as they could have.

4.    Get their suggestions:
Asking interns what they want to learn apart from their designated job skills will give you an idea about how to develop them professionally. Ask them if they want to do any additional courses or attend seminars for the same, and how this would help them in their current job. They must feel free to share their thoughts about the same.

5.    Involve them in Events:
Going for a hackathon? Involve the youngsters. They are more tech-savvy for sure, and could help you out in many other ways that you can think of. In return, they will learn how things are done. Similarly, for any seminars or workshops held at your office, make sure to invite them, so they get an all-round knowledge.

6.    Engage them:
Hold activities that help them open up and interact with rest of the team members. Team building activities help a lot in engaging the old and the new. It also gives an insight into how teams blend in and learn from each other.

It's important to keep everything real. If you want them to trust you, you need to trust them and provide them the best education and training. They are costing you as well, so you might not want to take this lightly. In the longer run, they will prove to be an investment, and the results would be the seed that you sow while interning with them. Your leadership team should be able to put across the message in the most motivating voice that it can. It should give a clear indication of how important interns are to their company.
