What all should Internship Job Description comprise of?
Internships are a type of job that companies are creating to achieve their organisational goals on a smaller scale, meaning, on a low budget, getting freshers to work on small projects. The freshers learn real workplace functioning, assist the core teams, and do much more. But they are a part of the team because they are hired similarly as experienced candidates are hired.

Since they are selected and onboarded by following the proper recruitment process, its imperative that their Job Description must also be created accordingly. Of course, every JD will differ as per the domain, but it should be clear. It must highlight the key requirements from candidates, making them want to join your company eagerly.
This article will give you an idea of what all should be included in the job description for hiring an intern. Irrespective of the department they are being hired for, these points must be included by the employers to give a clear picture to the candidates.

1.    Company Profile: First and foremost, describe what your company is all about and the job role in details, so candidates get an overview of where they are applying to, and what are they going to gain by joining you. When students see that they will be given new opportunities to learn and train on their field of passion, also that they will be a contributing factor for the company achievements in the longer run, you will see a surge in the applications for students that wish to intern with your company.

2.    Skill Set: The JD must mention the specifics required for the candidate educational background, their degrees, majors done in any field. They can request for any technical knowledge as per job requirement, so the candidates remain aware of the criterion to get shortlisted.

3.    Perks and Benefits: Mention any perks and benefits the intern will receive upon joining the company upon getting selected. That the interns may take part in any company events, campaigns, professional meet ups if they wish to know more about the company would be a plus for attracting good crowd, so mention that as well.
Also state if the internship is going to be a paid one or unpaid one. Any info of the stipend or hourly work rates is taken positively by the graduates. Monetary benefits always are a source of motivation.

4.    Responsibilities and Training: The JD should have the day-to-day tasks of an intern mapped out. List out the specific tasks as related to their domains and skills which should be instructive and mustn’t include mindless tasks. Also mention a few aspects of the training to be provided to them. For e.g.:the new technology or the latest methods in photography, or the managing of that big event you are going to have soon. This will encourage more applicants.

5.    How to apply: Mention the link or details about how they can apply for the said position, your location, email address, details of the contact person. Providing these details is important, so they can submit their CV either in person or through the website. Also mention any additional documents, work samples, etc. that you require to shortlist the applications better.

Conclusion
The intern position description serves as both a marketing tool and guide for potential candidates. This is what will make notable candidates choose your internship programme above others. By understanding what goes into a good internship job description, both companies and interns can benefit. Job description postings say a lot about the company and its standards. Keep it crisp and clear with all the necessary details, and in no time, you will see students flocking to work with you and grow skilfully.

By keeping these factors in mind, you can craft a compelling job description that not only attracts top candidates but also yields interns who contribute to the success of your business.
