Sandbar Asset Management LLP is a Global Market Neutral Equity Hedge Fund firm founded at the beginning of 2017. Sandbar founder and Chief Investment Officer Michael Cowley has held previous positions at Citadel, Balyasny and Millennium Capital Partners. Sandbar focuses on combining bottom-up fundamental analysis and data inputs to optimise risk/reward profile of returns. The data-driven investment process utilises proprietary models to identify changes and predict investment outcomes proactively, whilst seeking to generate intra-sector alpha on both long and short sides of the portfolio. Internship Opportunities – Sandbar is seeking candidates for Junior in our London office for a Data Scientist / Quant Analyst / position. Junior quant will work closely with senior members of the investment team and quantitative team on both prospective and on-going investments across global equity markets. They will have an opportunity to learn about Sandbar's investment style as well as contribute meaningfully to real-time analysis of investment opportunities. Responsibilities: • Maintaining and Improving Python Library • Helping with fundamental stock models • Performing accurate financial modelling, correlation, trend and valuation analysis • Working with Portfolio Manager / Senior Analysts covering quant analysis/back-testing strategies upon request • Enhancement of markets and risk report (Liquidity, P&L, Beta, Risk Factors, etc.) to ensure ongoing appropriateness • Maintaining and Improving SQL database (MS Server) • Monitoring and Scraping data from websites and analysing alpha opportunities Qualifications: • Experience in Equity and stock markets • Highly numerate: Quantitative and Excel financial modelling skills (VBA preferred), analytical, problem solving • Advanced Microsoft Excel and VBA • Intermediate SQL, including stored procedure development (Oracle or SQL Server) • Record of very strong academic achievement in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science) • Professional programming skills with Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scipy) • Able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas • Ability to work autonomously and use own initiative • Strong Desire to learn • Experience in Alternative Data is a plus
