The rejection from company may be terrible, but it is always possible that this is handled correctly, and you should overcome the rejection woes because that’s not the end of the world. So, don't allow this refusal to drag you down; we’ll tell you how you can come up like a phoenix from the ashes and succeed.
1. Ask for Feedback from Employers
Sometimes it is clear why you weren’t selected for the internship. You must have lacked specified qualifications or some soft/hard skills required for the role, and it is vital in both situations to grasp what it is, in order to improve it.
We urge you to request feedback. Whether you answer to thank the firm for its time, ask if they have a good feedback. Maybe you don't want to hear it, but when you know what you need to improve on you have a tremendous edge.
2. Review Your Internship Application
You may find yourself submitting the same CV or cover letters to all openings when you apply for internships. This is not ideal, though, since not every job is the same. It is usually better to adapt your curriculum vitae to the internship and the necessary skill sets.
3. Learn New Skills to Improve Your Chances
Being a new graduate does not necessarily imply you have all the new abilities to execute a job. According to several Employability Surveys done, out of all the engineering students working in the software service industry have inadequate skills while applying for a job! Get ready to enhance your abilities.
4. Stay Positive and Keep Moving Forward
In the first attempt, you won't always get the chance, which is all right. You will learn from this and on the other side you will come out stronger. So move on and keep applying to new internships. Slowly but surely you will get the desired results. Don't wait too much for looking for your next chance. Waiting for the right opportunity won’t help. Keep trying at several companies and appear for interviews for even if it’s just for practise. It's wise to have a pipeline to make sure you have choices.
Rejections are a part and parcel of life. Just at the start of your career, feeling dejected upon hearing a NO seems fair but dont linger on. There are numerous opportunities out there waiting for you to grab them. Stay optimistic and consistent in your efforts to reach your goals.
