Essential Tips for Relocating for Internship
People relocate from one place to another in search of jobs or to join their new workplace, all the time. It’s not new. In fact, it has become one of the important criterion for candidates as well as employers. For certain jobs candidates do move places and stay at the location of work for better work conditions.
Employers are ready to pay for relocation expenses as well, but are candidates aware of the essentials required to relocate for the new job? Are you, as a candidate smart enough to understand how relocation for internships work? This article will help you gain insights on all that you need to focus on while moving through locations.

1.    Ask your Employer:
As already mentioned, employers are making all things possible for a good candidate to join them. Hence, understand their relocation policy before deciding on making the final move. Ask your questions about the relocation limit, any bill submissions, if they can help you with the logistic companies. So getting a clear idea will make your move easier.

2.    Research about the location:
Once you understand the employer benefits, it’s time to explore the new place you’ll be moving to. Cost of living is one main aspect that you should consider. Every city is not the same. Do your research and get an idea if this move will cost you more than what you earn or would it be an ideal move? Check if it’s a good place to grow professionally? How far your office would be from your home?
If possible, arrange for a small trip to understand the place better. If you are moving with your parents, get an idea of the safety conditions, economic conditions, so you won’t regret your decision to move, later on.

3.    Research about movers and packers:
Upon making your mind for the move and feeling satisfied about the place, you should look for a good movers and packers company that can get your stuff from one place to another, safely and responsibly. You can also get an idea from your employers, since many companies have tie ups with logistic vendors as well, so they can get you a better and trusted deal. Always get some quotes first and then chose the best moving service. Get your things insured, so you don’t incur any losses. Try and move only with the necessary stuff.

4.    Identify your travel schedules:
Arriving at least a week before should be an ideal move since you will get ample time to set your new home. When you join your new office, you would be free from domestic worries. So make your travel arrangements comfortable for yourself as well for your family and employer.
Book the tickets in advance, so you have ample time to deal in case of any mishaps. Do not overload while travelling, but always keep the necessary paperwork and medicines ready while you travel.

5.    Build a network:
It’s possible that this new location is completely new for you, but you would find several groups and channels to help you know more about it either through social media or through internet.
There are various channels that help people who are relocating by connecting them to good realtors and other utility personnel. But you also have to be smart and keep the final decision for yourself.

If you are open to relocate for your job, you should mention it in your profile, or in the ‘About Me’ section, so employers can get a better understanding of your preferences and priorities. Make sure you stay in touch with the employers while you make this move, so they can also create your onboarding plan accordingly.

As your next best move, sign up on Graduatewise.com, a niche platform for intern employment that connects candidates with the employers in a seamless manner. It has various sections where you can select or mention your work preferences.
