Why Should the Company Hire You - How to Answer
You believe you are awesome, your friends and family also believe the same, because you, and they, both have been with yourself since forever. But an employer isn’t going to hire you just on the basis of your beliefs. They would require data and concrete information as to why should the company hire you. So candidates need to be prepared for this ‘almost’ mandatory question that is asked during interviews.
It’s not always easy to answer this question, but if the candidates are well-prepared, they can easily ace this round and prove themselves to be the potential candidates.

Graduatewise.com, the perfect marketplace for candidates to connect with their dream jobs, has a separate section for the same. Here the candidates can directly answer this question, even before appearing for the interview.

There are ways in which it has to be answered, a thin line between sounding pompous about yourself, or worse, desperate; and sounding sure and confident about your achievements and experience. The ones who manage to maintain that balance are those who have greater chances of getting selected. In this article we will learn about some tips that candidates can employ while preparing to answer the question “Why should we hire you?”

•    Purpose:
We need to understand why this question is such a darling of interview panel. Trust that they are not out there to agonize you, but they simply want to understand if you are worthy enough of the open position or not, if your skills are matching with their requirements and if you are able to fulfil the roles and responsibilities attached to it.
The idea behind asking this question covers the following, and that what you should focus on while answering it:
1.    How are you beneficial to the company?
2.    How can your addition to the team enhance it, and upgrade them?
3.    How are you better than the other candidates in the pipeline?

•    Types of Responders
With this question sounding so simple initially, you would better understand about the two types of responders:
1.    Whiners and Boasters:
Those who either show their desperation or practically beg for the job. They also think they are the best and no one can beat them to this job.
2.    Confident and Thoughtful:
Those who are aware of their strengths and understand how to forward them in front of the hiring panel. They are also solution oriented and speak of the betterment of the company if they get hired.
Candidates need to assess themselves and understand where they stand, in the first category or the second.

•    Tips to Tackle the Question
You cannot read an interviewer’s mind, but you must realise that they are looking for a potential candidate, someone who is aware of his/her goals. Someone who has ideas to align them with the company goals, so how do you answer it?
1.    Research the company:
The key to ace any interview is to go through the company, its functions, its domain, expertise, team size, the challenges it’s facing, the technology they are working on, the technology they are looking for, and relate your skills to its working accordingly. Once you know what the company all about is, and how your experience is going to be utilised, it becomes better to respond.
2.    Understanding its competitors:
Along with the company, know its competitors, why they are competing, and where you can fit yourself. The pointers of competition will make things clear for you.
3.    Know about the requirement:
In depth analysis of the job description is an important part of answering the question. If you know what they are actually looking for in a candidate, skills and otherwise, you would be able to convince them better.
4.    Practice the conversation:
It doesn’t mean you need to by heart your answer. It means you must know and practice your tone of answering this question, what level of confidence to display, how much to speak, and saying all the right things.

The best way to start the answer is highlighting your skills, and how they would be beneficial if you join them. Tell them about your certifications, the webinars and sessions that you take or attend to upgrade yourself. Any small projects that you have done on the same, but avoid staying quiet and staring at the panel blankly. Answer them the best that you can.

With Graduatewise.com helping the candidates shortening the process of interview, it has become easier for both the parties. Once you ace answering this question through our article, you'd find the right internships pretty quickly.
