Defining Result Oriented CV
A CV that contains all the information about your experience, successes, learnings and awards in a quantitative as well as meaningful manner comes under this category. It doesn’t contain simple day-to-day tasks but focuses on how you can achieve your targets by doing those tasks. You see, it’s not task based, but outcome based.
How can you create one?
1. Go through your current CV closely.
Understand that the more it contains quantitative data, better it becomes. Why? Because most employers are data driven and find it easier to relate to it. You can mention all about your awards, small and big wins, other mention-worthy experiences while in university, to show off your skills.
2. Avoid creating statements that sound task focused.
What you do on a given day does not concern the employer, rather, if you mention how your work can impact the growth of the company; would impress them more. Avoid statements like:
- I can create task sheets on monthly basis
- I can enter data into vendor book daily
- I met with my study mentors on weekly basis
3. Use result oriented statements
Ones that speak about your contribution towards the growth and success while you were studying or may be on a volunteer job. Consider mentioning statements that show your leadership and management skills, and how your productivity, skill-set and conduct made you an asset to them.
Some examples:
- Created fun and interactive learning newsletters for my batch.
- Learned how to deal with customers, do more than one thing at once, and organise data.
- Weekly and monthly ad sales goals for school paper were consistently surpassed.
- Advertising and marketing activities including target audience analysis, ad copy creation, and rollout
- Analysed the potential of a new facility by using working capital, capital costs, and projected revenue.
- Avoid making common CV mistakes.
- Use your name as the file's saving name. That way the profile can be seen and tracked more easily.
- Enter correct information about your qualifications and skills, do not be dishonest.
- Your contact information should be clear and correct.
Your ability to project your success will tell a lot about your skills, especially when you are looking for an internship. Keeping a track of your expertise, their application and the respective impact would definitely help your score better points while you appear for any interviews.
