Updating Sexual Orientation on Your CV

Updating your sexual orientation in your CV is a matter of discussion. But when it comes to your career, what should you do? Keep in mind that you can apply for a job, submit a CV, or participate in an interview without ever having to reveal your sexual orientation or gender identity. Whether or not you choose to disclose your sexuality, gender identity, or gender expression is a personal choice.

Updating Sexual Orientation on Your CV
A candidate's sexual orientation, or what you might call their "gender identity," might affect their career choices. However, as the world changes, candidates may find it easier to work at their preferred workplaces, no matter what their sexual preferences are.
But they need to know how to plan their careers by thinking about the answers to the following questions:

1.    Are there any companies that do not allow LGBTQs?
2.    How do companies treat their queer staff?
3.    If companies hire them without any objections, do they have any specific rule sin place for them?

Once you have the answers to these questions, you can start looking for open positions. Hone your skills and learn how to show your gender status to the employer in a positively and impactfully. As such it won’t be easy to understand any company’s underlying thought process about any specific gender. If candidate is talented and holds necessary skills, hiring them shouldn’t be an issue.

Should you disclose your sexual orientation on your CV?

I cannot see why you cannot. Of course doing so would require thorough knowledge of the state and country laws that might or might not allow LGBTQ or even females to work in specific industries. In case all goes well legally, you can mention your status on your professional profile. Make sure what all would you want to discuss in your interviews. No matter what identity you hold, your responses should always show how beneficial you are for the company.

If you showcase your skills in the right manner, no company should reject your candidature irrespective of your gender or identity.
