Securing Your Dream Job

Discussing Salary Once you Receive the Job Offer

The hiring process isn't complete unless the salary is discussed and agreed upon. It's important to explain to your employer why you think you deserve a raise so they can fully appreciate your contributions to the company. Much like learning any other ability, the more practise you put into negotiating, the better you'll get at it and the easier it will get.

Discussing Salary Once you Receive the Job Offer
If you are evaluating an offer for an internship or your first employment as a post grad, you are likely to have a talk about your income goals with your employer. Although you may be scared to market your skills and seek a precise amount, many companies appreciate and even anticipate these considerations.
It's time to manage your destiny and ask for the right price for your skills, even if you are an intern. The worst thing that can happen is to get a "no," and that's all right.

Ask at the Appropriate Time
Never talk about money before a formal offer is on the board. If the employer has not decided whether to employ you, it might look that you are more concerned with the benefits than the job of asking for a certain pay.
Also, you will have little authority to make requests as you do not know for certain that the company wants you. Whatever the prospects seem good, always wait until you have an offer to discuss your internship compensation.

Do the research
You must know that the numbers you desire are feasible before you start an interns' wage talk. Asking for excessively high salaries might make your case ridiculous. Requesting a too low amount is much harder: it indicates the recruiter that you don't know your value.
Instead of estimating the numbers, use online data to investigate the true market worth for your position.

Prepare before Bargaining
Be ready to bargain once you have looked for the average wage in your field. Use it to your benefit since you have done your study. First, let the interviewer complete the whole pitch of incentives and advantages; stopping him before that, will give you the feeling that he or she is not truly concerned.
One excellent method to start negotiations after the pitch is to reconfirm the wage. Talk about the offer and the market scenario. The interview must realise that you know what you are talking about and might consider your points and suggestions.

Think of your situation
Consider your scenario, now that you know the current value of the position. Have you got a higher level of competence or previous industrial experience? You can add more value to your position so that you can take advantage of a relatively higher wage.
You should also consider your residential costs and ensure that your pay is adequate. Although you should make sure that you make enough money to sustain yourself, you should avoid talking with the employer about your personal circumstances. Never exploit your financial status to demand greater pay. Rather, concentrate on the added value of the firm.

Speak Up if You Aren't satisfied
After you make your request, the panel will re-negotiate with you. That includes phrases like "this is an initial position and a lack of experience," or "with our reward compensation plan..." Do not give in to their declarations. Keep strong about your opinion on increasing salaries.

The key tip here is to remain silent once your claim has been filed. Tell nothing till they have reacted. In the same way, if you continue to attempt to excuse yourself, you will damage yourself.
Discussions on salary shouldn't be neglected; even if you are in a situation to take a any role offered, you lose nothing during discussions. Companies will give you this chance, or warn you that wages are non-negotiable.
