How to Answer – Why Do You Want to Work Here?
One of the most asked about questions out of all, this one is a real deal. As a candidate use your head in the right manner while answering this. Practice and explore the role and company for best results.
If you ask, why is this question so important? We would say, think as an Employer. You would want someone who can be as involved and dedicated in your company, as you are, right?

Hiring managers do not waste much time and ask this question pretty much in the first few minutes of the interview. They find it better to interview you, once they get an insight in to your reasons for joining the company, especially when they know that many other companies are hiring for the same position.

Now, there are other forms of this question, like ‘Why are you interested in this position?’ Or ‘What attracts you to this company?’ Instead of feeling flustered, understand that the employers are trying to gauge if you are a valuable fit for the organisation or not.
Let’s take a look below at staying prepared to answer this question:

1.    Stay Prepared:
Know all about the company, about the work they do, about the segments they cater to, their work culture and environment. When you see your own goals aligning with the kind of work they have been doing or the services they offer, you would automatically get the idea of why you would wish to associate with the company. Even if your goals differ from theirs, researching about the company and answering thoughtfully will help you speak up.

2.    Are you a Cultural Fit?
Explain to the hiring panel, how you are a fit at their company. It’s an important factor for employers to have candidates that are a cultural fit, hence relate your conduct in alignment with the company culture and speak accordingly. For the same, you must be well aware of the company culture.

3.    What can you offer?
Speak on how and what you can offer to the company that would benefit them, if they hire you. When you understand their working and the projects, the competitive stresses they have been facing, any glitch in their website that may be hazardous, explain how you can resolve those issues, and what you’ll work on, so you add value to the common, so Help them understand your usefulness.

4.    Count your Strengths:
List out your strengths that you are aware of, have helped you previously during a project, or while volunteering at an NGO, and the ones you know would be helpful if you get selected at this company.
Explain how you worked through the issues and errors, and what lessons you learnt during the journey, that you could implement in a given situation if you get hired. Talking about learnings give a good impression on hiring panel.

Here are some examples on how you can roll out smooth replies to impress your interviewers:
1.    I feel my skills are best suited for this position because…
2.    I am confident that I have the necessary knowledge and practice for such projects because...
3.    I can sense this job role providing me with the opportunity to give and provide to others, because...
While you are asked this question, also try to avoid replying like the below:
1.    I would like to earn more...
2.    I know you guys payout the best, so who would not want to grab such an opportunity?
3.    I am fed up with my current situation/conditions, I just need something to keep me busy…
4.    I see myself moving up the ladder with this new job…

It’s not a difficult question to answer, but you have to stay alert and aware of the right thing to say. Don’t worry about saying the wrong thing, only make sure that the wrong thing should come out in a way that is somehow a huge benefit for the company.
Take your time before answering the question, think for a minute, frame the answer in your mind and then speak out. Having patience will help you answer such questions effortlessly and will definitely increase your chances of getting hired.
