A CV summary is also called a professional summary for CV and gives a short view of your work background at the top of your CV. Employers typically read these summaries before reviewing the rest of an application package. If you're seeking a job, writing a CV summary with the right content and structure can help you capture the attention of potential employers and become more competitive for a position.

What is a CV Summary?

At the top of a candidate's CV, there is a summary of their expertise called a "CV summary." Employers usually read these summaries first, before looking at the rest of a job application. If you're looking for a job, writing a CV summary with the right content and structure can help you catch the attention of potential employers and make you more competitive for a position.

Start your CV with a personal statement that shows your key skills and top achievements. It is meant to catch recruiter's attention ASAP.
This is basically your on paper presentation for the intended internship. Whether you have received an award, developed your brand or are well-known for your conversational abilities, your CV overview provides this critical information.
A strong CV shows why you are the best fit right away and encourages recruiters to put your profile on the short list without delays. 

1) Why do you Need a Summary for your CV?

•    Increase Visibility

When they view your CV for the very first time, companies will probably scan to check whether your profile matches the position well. This makes it easier to identify your most essential areas of expertise.
A powerful summary statement at the top of your curriculum vitae might enhance their chances of realising what you can deliver.

•    Highlight Key Skills

A summary section can simply your CV especially if you are a recent graduate with no actual work experience to show. It may also motivate the recruiter to consider you on priority, if they identify your potential.

•    Include Relevant Keywords

The summary is usually kept short, while you can also use a couple of bullet points to highlight important phrases. No one will read an essay for a CV, so make sure you keep it brief.

2) What to Include in Your CV Summary

The summary part of the CV may incorporate a combination of hard and soft skills for people with minimal experience. Soft skills include communication, logical analysis, creativity, productivity, time management and strategy formation. If you hold some hands-on experience you should mention the hard skills as well.

The below points should be mentioned in the summary:
•    Awards and accomplishments
•    Degrees and certifications
•    Any vocational experience
•    Keywords matching the job description
