The positive side to this question is: If you are invited to interview at other firms, the employer is probably interested in employing you. If they weren’t they wouldn't be asking you this question, they would just let you go. Honesty can expedite the discussion and mean more jobs. But you may want to answer this question carefully so that the interviewer doesn't think you're not interested in the job.
How should you answer this question?
HR recruiters suggest that if you're interviewing at other companies, and they value your candidacy, management might expedite the hiring process. If you're interviewing at other companies. If a firm genuinely loves you, decision makers might act faster to get you in the team.Something like, "I'm finishing the last rounds with four other companies right now. In the following two weeks, they would let me know", should sound fine.
You might also say, "I'm actively pursuing other options", if you're not near to final interviews. Of course, you want to make it apparent to the employer that their position is of primary focus when you discuss other job applications.
Should you name other companies?
If the interviewers ask you what other companies you have interviewed for, you should try not to say anything.But if it's a big brand, and you're in the final stages of negotiations, you should definitely mention it. Doing so raises your candidate value and makes you a sought-after candidate.
Also, even if you are not giving interviews at any other place, that’s fine because companies don’t stress much on whether you are in demand or not. They won’t reject you if you are a desirable candidate. But they won’t judge you as well, if you aren’t being pursued by other companies.
Should you proactively inform about other opportunities?
A lot many times, interviewers’ don’t ask about other opportunities that you have. That gives you scope to raise it yourself, because it could have a strategic benefit for yourself. The various employment opportunities that interns can take advantage of are great.One fast approach to receive an offer is to say that you have one already. Whether you initiate it or not, it indicates that you are a great contender for their internship program.
