Grabbing Interview Opportunities

Pre- Interview Tips for Impressing Your Interviewer

Throughout the employment process, many managers carry out a preliminary interview to weed out unqualified individuals. Making a good initial impression on a hiring manager is essential during this type of interview. You can accomplish this in a number of ways, one of which is to practise answers to potential interview questions. Below we have listed some pre-interview tips for impressing the interviewer.

Pre- Interview Tips for Impressing Your Interviewer
The instant you enter the theatre is the first moment of your audition. The moment someone interacts with you, even if you aren't "on," they are creating an opinion of you. The same saying applies to job interviews, only that they start long before you walk in the door.
How you prepare for an interview can give the interviewer an idea of what kind of person you are before you even start talking about your skills and experience. So how can you ensure your success even before you set foot in the building?

Make yourself readily available to others.
Being adaptable can help tremendously. Provide the interviewers with as many options as possible in terms of days and times. It's reasonable that you could be limited by your own work schedule. If possible, try to plan your interview for a time early in the morning or towards the end of the day. If you can help it, avoid scheduling an interview for lunch. Nobody wants to impress someone who keeps looking down at their food the whole time.

Treat the interview scheduler with respect, even if they're not the hiring manager.
The interview coordinator may not be the one who ultimately hires you, but they will take note of how you treat them. While being nice to the coordinator probably won't guarantee you a spot on the team, being nasty could cost you your chance. Whoever lost out by being generous never had anything to lose.

See to it that they have all the necessary documentation.
Before the interview begins, double-check that you've sent all required materials. You shouldn't have to wait awkwardly on a Zoom call while the interviewer waits to obtain a PDF of your CV. Make sure your portfolio is in their hands if you are referring to earlier work.
Even if you had provided all of this data in your online application, it doesn't harm to remind them of it in every email exchange.
They might even be impressed by your meticulousness.

Don't be shy in asking for clarification.
Be free to inquire about the nature of the interview, how long it might continue, and whom you will be meeting with. The likelihood of seeming foolish is low, unless you go into an interview unprepared.
As long as you don't bother them too much with follow-up inquiries, people will likely be glad to answer your questions. Don't blow your chance at the internship because you were too anxious to ask the questions.

Email everyone.
One last, simple, but crucial piece of advice: always use reply all when corresponding about the interview. It's as simple as clicking a button, and it'll keep their internal communications flowing smoothly. If others besides the person coordinating the interviews are copied on the email, it's safe to assume that the information you're providing in response is of interest to everyone involved. Having everyone on the same page has no negative consequences.
