Grabbing Interview Opportunities

Factors That Contribute to a Positive First Impression

Every time you interact with a new individual, they create an opinion about you based on what they observe. As a fresh graduate, realise that there are factors that contribute to a positive first impression over the recruiter. First impressions are frequently the most lasting and provide the basis for future interactions and relationships. So, it is crucial that you understand the art of making a good first impression. To that end, the advice in this piece should prove quite helpful.

Factors That Contribute to a Positive First Impression
The initial few seconds of meeting someone are crucial, specially if its a hiring manager and you are a graduate. You've probably heard the phrase "make a good first impression" before a big interview. To put this guidance into practise, you must first recognise which characteristics of your demeanour and manners have the greatest impact on others. While appearing for an internship intervoew, certain factors play a cruicial role in making a first good impression.

Dress
The way you dress is one of the first things a potential employer or client will notice. To make the greatest possible impression, business attire is recommended. Men should wear matching suits for this. Women should wear a pant or skirt suit as the default attire. You can improve your appearance by ironing your clothes, matching your belt and shoes, not wearing too much jewellery or other accessories, and keeping your shoes shiny.
If your clothing complements rather than detracts from your professional, self-assured demeanour, you will make a positive first impression.

How you Enter a Space
The manner in which you enter a room also shows your personality pretty substantially. The way you stand and walk can say a lot about you. Posing with your shoulders back and your head held high is an indication of self-assurance. Your pace should be calm and steady as you enter the room. The combination of a formal entrance and business attire creates an appearance of competence and assurance.

Expression of the Face
The very first element somebody sees about you is your face. A genuine smile conveys to your interviewer or business partner that you are pleased to make his or her acquaintance and look forward to working together.A scowl or expressionless face conveys a lack of attention, anxiety, or irritation, none of which is helpful.
When you first enter the room or approach the person, make direct eye contact with them. This demonstrates politeness and allows you to start off on an interesting and personal note. When you have friendly, open facial expressions, the other person immediately feels more at ease.

Handshake
When meeting someone for the first time, the handshake is the initial physical touch. This non-verbal cue has been used for centuries to convey joy upon meeting someone as well as reverence for him. If you want to show confidence, professionalism, and respect, give someone a solid palm-to-palm handshake with one or two pumps.
The other person may misinterpret your lack of confidence or lack of sincerity if your handshake is weak. Exuding an air of superiority or disrespect through an overly forceful handshake. The shake should not involve too many pumps. You should shake hands while maintaining eye contact.

Give the other person your undivided attention by putting aside modern distractions like your phone. Not becoming distracted by other people is also important. After all, it's hard to make a good first impression if you are appearing in an interview. Give your complete focus to the interview panel, as nothing is more important than your audience at that moment.
