This article will cover how you can introduce yourself while appearing for an internship interview. Considering you are inexperienced, the tips below will help you create a positive impact on the panellists by the end of discussion, leading to your selection.
Upon entering the Office
1. Introduce yourself at the Front Desk, and wait for the instructions
2. If you are told to wait, sit decently and avoid browsing your phone. Pick a magazine or check out the office
When you meet the Interview Panel
1. Greet them with a smile
2. Give them a firm handshake
3. Mention your name, the post you are interviewing for and show your enthusiasm for the same. For e.g.: Hello, My name is Susan, I am here for the interview of Finance Internship. Hope you are doing well!
4. Once you do that, ask if you may take the seat.
5. Upon approval take your seat and hand over the hard copy of your CV to them.
Once the preliminary greetings are done, they will start the interview with the first question as:
Tell us something about yourself! That’s your que to introduce yourself by briefly sharing about your education, skills, any relevant projects or assignments, and share a little about your family.
To simplify, the below steps should be followed to sound practiced and confident:
1. Talk about your skills, talents, accomplishments and awards
2. Point out your internship goals
3. Speak about any relevant experience that you gained during the studies which might be an advantage for this internship
4. Keep it brief, yet meaningful.
Based on your introduction and the CV, next set of questions will be asked. At the same time you can also ask out your queries.
Once the Interview is done, do not forget to say thank you and goodbye with a smile.
On the day of the interview, when it comes time to introduce yourself, you'll be able to do so calmly and confidently if you've practised beforehand. Keep your chin up, smile, and speak in an easy, conversational tone. Candidates are under a lot of strain during interviews, therefore interviewers often look over minor slip-ups.
