Grabbing Interview Opportunities

What All Should You Carry for Interview?

The interview, be it in person or by Zoom, is a crucial part of getting the job. You know you need to bring your best self to the interview, but do you know what to bring? The appropriate gear will give you the self-assurance and confidence that you need to shine. Read on to know what all you should carry for an interview.

What All Should You Carry for Interview?
Now that you received the call from the employer about being selected for the interview, you certainly feel ecstatic about it. The next step includes you deciding the items to carry for the interview. It's very likely that you would be called for a personal interview. Getting the right essentials would help you go through the interview smoothly.

This article will list out some important items that you must carry with yourself while appearing for your first interview at the company. Let’s take a look below:
1.    CV
First and foremost, never to forget item would be copies of your CV. Even if you have emailed it to the hiring panel, it's always safer to get hard copies of the same while going for the interview. You never know where you might need it. Keep at least 2 copies of your CV with you, so you have it handy as and when required.

2.    Folder
All your certificates, Xerox of education mark sheet, any diplomas, awards, or other related documents must be arranged neatly in a folder. Keeping the documents in one place i.e. in a folder will help you stay systematic if the hiring panel asks for any of those. Having a folder also helps keeping you calm since interviews make people anxious and staying better prepared in such situations always help.

3.    Work Samples
These days taking your work samples, or a portfolio is quite a trend, and a good one too. Candidates who carry their work models with them help create a sense of credibility in the mind of the interviewer. They have better chances of getting selected because the interviewer can see their work sample. This results in quick hiring if they like your work.

4.    Stationary
Carrying your own stationary is one of the most basic points to remember while appearing for an interview. Ask for a pen to write a code or sign a document does not give a good impression to the hiring panel. Also, taking notes during the interview might also help you later on. For starters, carrying a pen and a notepad at least, must not be forgotten by candidates.

5.    Identification Proofs
One other basic item to carry is your identification card or proofs while you go for the interview. Most companies these days carry background checks for their employees but when you meet with them in person, you may have to submit one as well. Carry them, if in case the security guard at the gates asks for them to let you enter the company office.

6.    Reference List
You should bring your list of references to hand over should the hiring panel or the HR of the company enquires. List out their name, phone number, email address, their relationship with you, and any other vital information required. It's better to inform these references earlier about the same, so they will also stay prepared.

7.    Any Questions or Queries
Candidates who ask questions in an interview are perceived to be interested and serious ones. Hence, go through the company website, social media pages and blogs to get to know more about it. Read the reviews about its culture, work, competitors and other data. Accordingly, you can frame your own questions that would help you get the info that’s not listed elsewhere.

At times, it’s possible that you are called on the spot for the interview, and you may have less time to arrange for everything. In such a case, always make it a point to inform the hiring panel, recruiter or the company contact person about the same, so they would not blacklist you. That will show how responsible you are but try and not take too much time lest you seem disrespectful. As you start applying to companies, side by side, also keep a track of all the items that are needed at the time of interview. That would save your time and efforts big time.
