Importance of Follow up Email Post Interview
After you come out of the interview room or after a few days of the interview/s, do you also have the following questions in mind? Ideally, candidates must send a follow-up email, which might enhance your application in multiple ways. It allows you to reiterate your interest in the position and emphasise the value you would bring to the organisation you are interviewing with.

In addition, it helps you make a favourable impression on the recruiting manager by demonstrating that you are considerate and thankful.
1.    Will they select me?
2.    Should I call/email about the feedback?
3.    Will they revert or think of me as annoying?
4.    Should I wait some more?

These are pretty common queries that cloud a candidate’s mind when they are done with interviews, be it first rounds or next level rounds. Even you or me, for that matter went through this phase, Should I or Should I not follow up with the Employer? But this phase can be passed smoothly if managed correctly. Anxiety corners you, agreed! But that shouldn’t stop you from following up regarding the interview feedbacks. In fact, it’s important to shed all self-doubt, and call up or email for the same.

The following points would help you understand why doing so is important and how it will benefit you.
1.    Results are Out:
By taking the initiative, and asking for a feedback gets you the results. There would be 3 scenarios, mostly. Either you would be selected, or you won’t be, or the employers would keep your profile on hold because they want to think some more. In any case, you will get your result, which would at least cool down your anxiety.

2.    Peace of Mind:
Either you will get ready to join this new job or you will prepare for interviews at other company. With a follow up your path would become clear and mind would be at rest.

3.    Interest in Company:
Following up also shows that you are excited to join the company, and that’s why you look forward to a positive response. This strengthens your case, but even if you don’t get selected, they would still remember you for next time.

4.    Additional Offering:
There might be something that was left to inform last time, might be your passion project or a new skill completion that you would like to share now. Following up with the recruiters give you a chance to share that information which in turn might help you get selected for next levels of interview.

It’s important to note that candidates must give at least 24-26 hours for following up for any position. It’s also true that impatience won’t get you the job, instead your calls or emails might get ignored. Keeping it simple, giving it sometime and handling your interviews wisely would help you get the job sooner than you can think of.
